Jerrold E. Slutzky, J.S., CFP® is a Florida-licensed attorney and owner of The Slutzky Law Firm, which focuses primarily on ESTATE PLANNING SERVICES (Wills, trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care surrogates, living wills, "Lady Bird" deeds, etc,), PROBATE (including probate avoidance techniques), and BUSINESS LAW (business entity formation, drafting and review of documents, confidentiality/non-compete agreements, etc.).

Jerry received his Bachelors of Science (B.S.) degree in Finance from the University of Illinois (Champaign/Urbana), and his Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Jerry obtained his Illinois law license and opened his own law firm in Chicago, which focused on small business law, estate, retirement, and tax planning, as well as many other areas of the law.

In 1988, he and his family "escaped the Chicago winters in favor of the Florida sunshine, at which time he pursued a new career in the financial services industry in Tampa, during which he obtained his Series 7 (General Securities), Series 63 (Uniform State Exam), Series 65 (Investment Advisor Representative), and Florida insurance licenses (Life, Variable Life, and Health). In addition, in 1999, Jerry obtained his designation as a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM.

Although he had previously retired from the practice of law in Illinois, he yearned to be able to use all of his combined knowledge in legal and financial worlds to better serve the needs of his clients.

Inspired by his father, who practiced law until he was 96 years of age, Jerry took (and passed) the Florida Bar exam, and was licenses to practice law in Florida in 2012. Due to time limitations fromm his other business as a financial advisor, Jerry limits his law practice to estate planning, probate and business law.

In addition, with the combination of over 42 years experience in the legal and investment arenas, he also serves as an arbitrator in adjudicating investor disputes before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), the largest independent regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States.

This inspiration for this book was provided when Jerry hydroplaned into a tree at 70 miles per hour! While he escaped injury, he realized all the things his family would need to know if he had not survived the crash. This book is the culmination of his 42 years of his experience in both of his advisory capacities.

When not in the office or out giving educational lectures, Jerry is an avid ballroom dancer, and has promised his beloved wife, Helen, to “spin her around the dance floor for the rest of our lives!” In addition, Jerry is an active supporter of community theater in the Tampa Bay area and can often be found performing on stage in one Broadway musical or another. Jerry is living proof of the statement “Every lawyer is a frustrated actor!
